This is already more than a month old, but you nevertheless might find it interesting: You might still remember the arrest of some high ranked Turkish military officials beginning this year (based on allegations of having planned a coup d'etat). A friend pointed me to a more political article published by Dani Rodrik. Incidentally, Rodrik happens to be the son-in-law of the imprisoned and retired four-star general, Cetin Dogan and delivers his perspective on the events.
It is worrying to see how divergent media reports (in particular in the West, who simply picked up the original report) have been from his - albeit subjective - viewpoint. Knowing that Rodrik is a fantastic academic however, his perspective however seems rather credible and convincing.
This is development Rodrik?
ReplyDeleteDani - the ("development") man - Rodrik. Yes.
